We love Disney sisters almost as much as we love our own sisters (whether they’re biological or simply friends we’ve promoted). People may think of Anna and Elsa when they think of Disney sisters, but those two are only the beginning. Here are 6 of our favorite Disney sisters:
Ariel’s Sisters
As small children obsessed with The Little Mermaid, we were in awe of Ariel’s sisters because of their stellar “A” names and the fact that they all perform together, which is awesome. Now, we also love them because they’re all just so supportive. Think about it: Ariel is clearly the favorite; everyone (including Triton) acknowledges that she has the best voice, and none of her sisters are in any way spiteful or catty about it. That’s really, really cool.
The Sanderson Sisters

With their completely over-the-top fish out of water reactions to the modern world, and their ability to pull a show-stopping number out of nowhere, Winifred, Mary, and Sarah delight us to no end. Our admiration for these three has even inspired us to pretend to be them. There’s something particularly fun about loving (and maybe even secretly rooting for) a movie’s villains. We’re willing to bet that their appeal is the reason Hocus Pocus is a universally beloved classic.

The Three Good Fairies

In our humble opinion, these ladies are the true heroes of Sleeping Beauty. Their love keeps Aurora safe and happy for 16 years, and their magic saves Aurora’s life, prevents the kingdom from suffering, and equips Phillip to defeat Maleficent. In spite of the occasional color-centric disagreement, they build each other up and work well as a team.

Anastasia and Drizella

These two could definitely use some lessons in manners, to say the least, but they have an unshakeable confidence in themselves that we can’t deny. It’s also cool that they have a little family band thing going. Sisters sharing hobbies is always something we appreciate.

Anna and Elsa

We love these two and their iconic sisterhood. Frozen is basically a feature-length celebration of the love between sisters and the power it has to change, and save, lives. We always hug our sisters extra-tight after watching it, and that’s a gift that has no equal.

Lilo and Nani
Nani was only 19 when she and Lilo lost their parents. She was still just a kid herself, then suddenly she was dealing with an unthinkable tragedy and she was her 6-year-old sister’s sole guardian. Against all odds, Nani fought. She fought to keep Lilo with her, she fought to be the adult role model Lilo needed, and she fought to fix their broken ‘ohana. The scene where she sings to Lilo in the hammock makes us cry every single darn time, because these sisters’ devotion to each other is so transcendently beautiful.
